There were 20 radio stations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as of 1999. Radio is the dominant medium, with a handful of stations, including state-run Radio-Télévision Nationale Congolaise (RTNC), broadcasting across the country.
Radio Tele Mwangaza is the most popular TV station in Congo, accounting for an average of 36% of audience share. It is followed by Radio Tele Mwangaza with 7% audience share and an average rating of 0.9, and Digital Congo TV and Malaika TV. International French-language channels TV Monde and Canal+ also rank in the top TV channels across the country.
State-controlled radio and television transmissions, operated under Radio-Television Nationale Congolaise (RTNC), are the prominent broadcasting stations, reaching the largest number of citizens. The RTNC radio broadcast of La Voix du Congo, is available in French, Swahili, Lingala, Tshiluba, and Kikongo.
